As children grow up, their social circles extend from families to schools and the community. Through the process of participation and observation, they pick up basic social skills, and gradually adapt to different environments. Such process lays a solid foundation for their future integration into the society.
However, taking part in social activities may not be easy for children with special needs, as they may be afraid to have their hair cut in a hairdressing salon, unable to observe the regulations in MTR compartments, and fail to eat quietly in fast-food shops. To enhance children’s social adaptation capabilities, we have to understand the problems and the causes behind, and equip the children with the adaptation skills through proper training activities. In an effort to let parents and fellow practitioners grasp the training skills and strategies, a seminar will be held by Heep Hong Society with details as follows:
Date: 5/12/2009 (Saturday)
Time: 9:30am – 12:30pm
Venue: Saint Too College (15 Tong Yam Street, Tai Hang Tung, Shek Kip Mei, Kowloon)
Enquiry Hotline: 2784 7700
The newly published Social Adaptation Skills Training Package will be available to participants of the seminar at a special price of HK$350 for parents and HK$450 for non-parents. Its original price is HK$550.
