Heep Hong Society’s family support project ‘Promoting Positive Life Attitudes among Families with Special Needs Children’ was honoured with the Silver Award in 2012 Asian Award for Advancing Family Well-Being in recognition of its innovative approach to support families with special needs children against life challenges.
2012 Asian Award for Advancing Family Well-Being was organised by Consortium of Institutes on Family in Asia Region. In the final competition and the award ceremony held in Singapore on 12 December 2012, Heep Hong Society outperformed dozen of rivals from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Korea and other Asian areas, and won the Silver Award; whereas the Gold Award went to a Taiwan project.
Sponsored by Love Ideas Love HK, Heep Hong Society’s award-winning project was launched in 2011. Over 400 families participated in various programmes, including parent groups, workshops, sharing sessions, and family activities, to develop positive and optimistic attitudes. Under the project, a booklet entitled ‘Different Children, Same Level of Happiness’ was also published to promote positive thinking among families with special needs children.
As part of our broader efforts to build thriving families, another one-year programme entitled 'Positive Family, Happy Life’ was launched by Heep Hong Society in its 24 centres in August 2012 under the sponsorship of Eu Yang Sang Charitable Foundation. The new programme comprises a series of parent support groups, workshops, and family activities. For details, please contact centers of Heep Hong Society.
