26 Chefs and Heep Hong Society’s little beneficiaries "cook-off" announcing the 21st Anniversary of ‘The Great Chefs of Hong Kong

The Great Chefs of Hong Kong and Heep Hong Society’s little beneficiaries (children with special needs) united for a cake decorating competition today at the Grand Hyatt, Hong Kong, to mark the 21st year of the ‘Great Chefs of Hong Kong’ culinary extravaganza. Children and chef’s decorated cakes together, while Directors and Sponsors spoke of the ‘Great Chefs’ gastronomic event, which is just a month away. The same chefs are set to unite on a pro-bono basis and cook in support of Heep Hong Society.

Today’s press conference showed the long-standing support from the food and beverage community for Heep Hong’s worthy cause, as participating chefs and celebrity ambassadors turned up the heat in their ‘cook-off’. Hong Kong actress Cecilia Yip also showed her support by helping children to decorate cakes and presenting the prizes of the competition. Smiles were on the menu as the children whose social development is supported by Heep Hong Society, took home their cakes and memories of the day.

Over the past 20 years, the annual event has helped raise over 30 million for the local Hong Kong charity. This 21st year, over 40 talented chefs from Hong Kong’s top food and beverage establishments will be returning on 21st May 2012 in the hope of another successful year.

Celebrities, socialites and food enthusiasts are all invited to the annual event to help support a prominent Hong Kong charity. Three dining options are available at the Grand Hyatt hotel including: A Great Chefs General Ticket (HK$800) ensures a place in the Grand Ballroom where guests can enjoy fine champagne and signature dishes of over 30 different outlets. A Great Chefs Plus (HK$1,380) ticket, allows guests entry into the Grand Ballroom, plus a seat at one of the Grand Rooms’ exclusive tables, where patrons will be hosted by six charming chefs and select wine companies. The final ticket, priced at (HK$1,800), The Star Chefs Plus, is an experience not to be missed for Hong Kong’s passionate food and wine lovers. Guests with this ticket will be entitled to dinner between 7-10pm in the Tiffin Lounge, where twelve chefs will personally cook and entertain guests enjoying premium wine. Fine foods, flowing conversation and delectable wine – all for a great cause.

Nancy Tsang, Director of Heep Hong, said, “We are truly thrilled to be hosting this event for the 21st year, and are grateful to all chefs and everyone involved for donating their time once again to support Heep Hong. We feel proud to have such an established event behind us, and the people of Hong Kong supporting us. The Great Chefs of Hong Kong is a unique event that allows for an exciting and cultured evening, whilst simultaneously giving back to your own community.”

Ticket buyers of this year’s culinary event can experience a gastronomic feast from experienced chefs with live music and beautiful harbour views.
