Seminar & Book on Enhancement of Children’s Self-care Abilities

Ordinary children gradually develop the skills of eating, drinking, going to the toilets, dressing and washing themselves as they grow up, and thus free their parents from worry. Nevertheless, those parents of children with special needs may encounter difficulties in caring for their children. In the light of this, a seminar to enhance parent’s understanding of self-care skills development of children, and provide practical tips on tackling common self-care problems will be held with details as follows:

  • Factors affecting children’s self-care abilities
  • Children’s self-care abilities development
  • Means to train children for various self-care activities
Speaker: Ms Joyce Cheng (Occupational Therapist of Heep Hong Society)
  • Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Occupational Therapy, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University
  • Experienced in the enhancement of children’s self-care and writing abilities, sensory integration, and in parent education
Target Participants: Parents or child-care workers of children aged up to 6 with autism or other special needs (the content of the seminar is also applicable to ordinary children)
